It's their weekly Friday tea, but nothing about this morning is routine. Madelyn must play the bewildered wife whilst hiding William's cryptic letter and her own dangerous knowledge. Victoria—sharp-eyed, calculating, lifelong friend and subtle rival—settles into the drawing room with sympathy that feels more like scrutiny. She's known Madelyn since childhood.
