Connor Pavel Novak
Connor Novak, born in 2003 in Elizabeth, South Australia, was the younger child of Stefan Novak and Kylie Hammond and was six when his father abandoned the family. Raised by his mother in working-class Elizabeth Downs and shadowed by the fear that he would become his absent father, he drifted through school before a motor-mechanic apprenticeship — and the example of his grandfather Pavel and his sister Taryn — gave his restless, practical hands a trade and a footing. He stayed.
